Elon Musk has taken a much more liberal approach to AI-generated NSFW material with his xAI company and chatbot ‘Grok’. Whilst OpenAI and Google have imposed strict guardrails on their AI platforms, Musk has even introduced a ‘spicy’ mode for his AI chatbot, as well as introduce a racy AI anime companion. The Big Tech AI video generation field is highly competitive and making stunning progress. Whilst Musk’s Grok Imagine may not quite be able to match OpenAI’s Sora or Google’s VEO 3, it seems it does have something extra that might even put it ahead of the others – the ability to generate NSFW videos and even hardcore porn.
An article published in Rolling Stone this week highlighted how AI porn enthusiasts on Reddit, particularly on the r/GrokNSFWs subreddit, are abuzz with excitement about an apparent relaxation in the NSFW guardrails of Grok Imagine. A cursory glance at the subreddit is enough to demonstrate that it’s likely true, as in recent days there have been numerous posts showcasing some outstanding user-generated videos that feature blowjobs, penetrative sex, and more. One post shows various Pixar style animations featuring the same beautiful blonde princess engaging in a blowjob, dildo masturbation, a facial, and sex in the cowgirl position. The recent update of Grok Imagine has not only seemingly enabled NSFW generation, it’s made it hugely more impressive too. One Redditor writes – “I still can’t believe how unhinged the last update was. Not only the nudity but the motions, boobs bounces more realistically, it’s incredible.“
Elon Musk appears to be a believer in the oft cited adage that porn is the biggest driver of tech adoption. Indeed, he recently acknowledged on X.com that VHS ultimately prevailed over the Betamax video format because the former was more favorable to porn. Still, there are fears that this apparent change in the NSFW usage policy of Grok Imagine is a result of oversight and might be patched soon. Only time will tell, but even if it is a deliberate policy change, even Musk is subject to regulation, and with legislators increasingly turning their gaze on AI porn, a Big Tech company going all in on NSFW might only add fuel to the regulatory fire. Or to look at it more positively, it might perhaps encourage Google, OpenAI, and Meta, to become more tolerant of NSFW AI themselves for fear of losing their lead.
